Frequently asked questions
Common questions on transport, documents and customs
Quotes & getting started
What information do you need to quote a freight rate?
At minimum: origin and destination, description of goods, gross weight, volume or package dimensions, number of packages, preferred mode, and the approximate cargo-ready date. Providing the HS code, proforma or packing list makes the quotation considerably more accurate.
How long does a quotation take?
For standard lanes and cargo, an offer is normally issued the same or the next working day. Project, out-of-gauge or unusual routings need more time for technical study and carrier enquiries.
What is the reference code for?
After submitting the quotation form you receive a reference code. Quoting it by phone or email lets us locate your enquiry immediately, without repeating the shipment details.
Customs
Under what authority are your customs services provided?
Clearance and customs formalities are provided under the management of a licensed customs broker of Iran Customs, covering classification, permits, declaration, attendance at inspection, permit issuance and release of the goods.
When should import requirements be checked?
Before order registration and before paying the supplier. At that stage the specification can still be changed, the proforma amended, or another supplier selected — options that largely disappear once the goods arrive at customs.
What happens if customs disputes the declared classification or value?
The file enters a review process. BAZH assists with the written submission, assembly of technical evidence and follow-up before the review authorities. Whether to pay under protest or continue the case is decided on the merits and the cost of detention.
Transport & routing
What is the difference between FCL and LCL, and which suits me?
In FCL a full container serves one shipper; in LCL several shippers' cargo is consolidated into one container. LCL is usually cheaper at low volumes, but beyond a break-even point FCL becomes both cheaper and faster. That point is calculated per lane and current rates.
Can you collect from the supplier's warehouse?
Yes. A door-to-door service covers collection at origin, the international leg, customs formalities and inland delivery to the nominated address, under one package and one invoice.
What checks are needed for heavy or out-of-gauge cargo?
Before any schedule is committed, the route is studied for clearance height, road and bridge load capacity, turning radius and transit permits. Equipment is then selected and loading and lashing plans prepared.
Contracts & documents
Which documents are needed to start?
Typically the proforma or commercial invoice, packing list, transport documents, order registration and any commodity-specific permits. The exact list depends on the goods, mode and lane, and is confirmed to you before shipment.
Is our shipment and document information kept confidential?
Yes. Commercial information, documents and supplier details are used solely to perform the agreed services and are not shared with unrelated third parties.
Do you arrange cargo insurance?
Yes. Marine or transport insurance is arranged in line with the mode and the value of the goods. Cover and conditions are proposed based on the nature of the cargo and the contract's delivery term.
